ABOUT MAJO
Majo features handmade leather bags and artisan bijoux. Always at the heart of Majo are the principles of best-in-class craftsmanship, rigorous selection of raw materials, and exclusively Italian production. The combination of old-fashioned “know-how” and contemporary taste has given rise to unconventional and never commonplace collections with an extremely distinctive and recognizable character and personalities.

INSPIRATION
Majo owes its name to the giant trip-hammer in the “Società delle Fucine” steel mill, that beating heart of the city that was a metalworking center of worldwide importance at the beginning of the last century. Just like the sound of the hammer used to beat the rhythm of the day for the whole community that created a proud sense of belonging. Today a community that wants “to be” more than “to seem” is recognized in Majo’s authenticity. The challenge of the three partners, at a time when other companies were outsourcing their activities, was to track down expert local workers and identify methods traditional to Italy as a starting point for a collection with modern and current taste.

OUR ETHOS
The company was founded in 1986 by Carla Coppari who had completed her studies at the Higher State Institute of Industrial Design (ISIA) in Rome, and by Stefano Romani, who had gained formidable hands-on experience in goldsmith’s shops throughout Florence. A few years later, Roberto Coppari joined the brand as Sales and Marketing Manager directing its national business and focus on leather bags. The brand made the eventual move into the international market in 1991 with globally recognized retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods London, Takashimaya NY and Japan, and Printemps Paris.
